Annual Corporate Charity Day

Each year around thirty teams of four enter the event, starting the day with a bacon 'buttie' 18 holes of golf , an evening function which includes dinner, prize giving and an auction.

The teams compete for a number of prizes. Raffle tickets go on sale around mid-April, but the real winners are the three local charities.

A big thank you goes to our loyal Charity Sponsors, Home Gas Supplies, the SPGC Charity Committee members, club members and all those who regularly get involved in making such a difference to people's lives.

SPGC - a small club with a Big Heart

It was in 1993 that Founder Member Arthur Wilkinson decided to hold a "Charity Week-end". In those early days it was a joint event involving both Club and College in an effort to raise money for both College and Club nominated Charities.

Today the event is run by the golf club and takes place on a Friday, usually in May or June; The 2022 event is being held on Friday 24th of June

Over the years this event has raised over £150,000 and now averages a clear profit of £6,000 per year which is then distributed to three nominated local charities, each of which receives sponsorship for three years.

£6000 Given to Three Local Charities

SPGC Charity Day 2021

At the recent presentation evening, Stonyhurst Park Golf Charity Committee presented cheques of £2000 to each of our three charities, Foundation for Ribble Valley Families, NightSafe and Field Nurses.
The charity day held in June was a huge success despite some initial fears that it would not go ahead due to Covid
restrictions. A total of twenty three teams entered, made up nine Home Gas and fourteen local business and SPGC members, each paying £150 for a team of four.

The course was in magnificent condition thanks to Dan and Barry’s hard work and drew many admiring comments
from visitors far and wide. Vets marshalled the course whilst ladies kept the teams well supplied with refreshments throughout the day. A BBQ breakfast or
lunch was also available.

Charity funds were boosted by the sale of raffle tickets raising a fantastic £1315 and a charity auction during
Captain’s night at which a four ball at the prestigious Hillside golf course was the star attraction receiving a winning bid of £600. A huge thank you to all SPGC members for their fantastic support this year.

On a final note we are desperately short of members to join the Charity Committee in 2022, please contact a member of the Charity Committee if you are interested.
